Flower School of New York - NYC Floral Design and Flower Arrangement Classes

You never know when FlowerSchool New York students will be needed. Last week during our intensive series, Lewis Miller of LMD reached out to FlowerSchool New York to help install an event at the Grand Central Oyster Bar.

Last week we were graced with an amazing group of students whose designs were extraordinarily impressive.  I wanted to share these images from class 7, The Hand-tied Bridal Bouquet.

Brittany and I were going through images for a new book we are working on and stumbled upon the above.  We thought that we would share.  It was taken during a recent Intensive Series when students were working with curly willow, perfectly antiqued hydrangeas, bear grasses and berries.  We love seeing determined young designers given the opportunity to build.

The final day of “Consultation to Execution” is, by far, the most stressful.  We had eight designers, each with their own design, working on the flowers and decor.  In the end, the students prevailed.  By 5:00pm, the students were finished and the garden began to fill up and wine began to start pouring.  Take a look at some of the images below to see how everyone did.

FlowerSchool New York would like to thank David M. Handy for all of his hard work helping us put on this amazing show, Tudor City Green for sharing their space with us and most of all our students, whose work helped to raise over $800.00 for the Tudor City Green.  The money will be used to assist in their continuing mission to bring more plantings and people to the green.

Day two is, in my opinion, the most exciting day of this series.  It is the day that all our students are responsible for their own floral designs.  We started with an early morning wholesale market round up, where every student bought for their tables, packaged it all up and delivered it to FlowerSchool for conditioning and arranging.

Our event design class, “Consultation to Execution” is coming along swimmingly thanks to David M. Handy’s experience and vision.  Students received their first lesson in what dealing with a client can be all about and where there is room for vision.

Day one also included a trip to Something Different Party Rental where students had to make some of their first decisions about what their party was going to be like.
