Series classes are designed to be taken all within a short period of time and must be purchased as a package. Call us to schedule your classes.

Workshops and Field Trips Overview

Our workshop classes are designed around a central theme such as flowers for sympathy, bridal flowers, open studios or event design. In addition to classes held on site, we also do regular field trips to the 28th Street wholesale flower market and annual trips to Aaslmeer, Holland, and Japan.

  • Saying Goodbye with Grace and Beauty (LM-SW01)

    'Saying Goodbye with Grace and Beauty' is a workshop focused on celebrating and honoring the recently deceased through floral designs, with considerations for appropriateness, logistics, and beauty in comforting the bereaved. The seminar will be taught by Lewis Miller of LMD Lewis Miller Design and will be hosted by Lewis at his downtown studio. The cost will be $350.00 and includes lunch.

  • Beginners Open Studio (OS5)

    We now offer a $110.00 beginners open studio class for students who want opportunity to work with flowers. This class has a particular design focus, such as hand tied bouquets or low compact centerpieces, and will is more casual than our other more intensive classes.

    This class includes all the flowers, which students take home when finished, and furnishes one spectacular arrangement that retails for $100.00 to $150.00.

  • Mother's Day Peony Tablescapes with Meredith Perez (MWP101)

    Prepare your Mother's Day table with peonies, with famed wedding designer Meredith Perez. Whether you are designing for a small brunch or large dinner party, you will pick up tips on how best to coordinate the entire table featuring the peony. Meredith will give you design tips to illustrate how to make peonies look their best, and also her secrets for opening up peonies and making them last.

    Pieces of the table scape will be your's to bring home and enjoy.

  • Consultation to Execution: A Full Event Design Class 1 of 3 (DH1)

    This event design class will bring students through the consultation, proposal and event storyboard, planning and finally the execution of a fully designed event with famed event designer David M. Handy. This series of three classes costs $1,400.00 and includes high resolution images of your final installation for your portfolio.

    On day one, student will receive a client, who has a specific esthetic and take a field trip to a party rental company to select the appropriate decor for the event on day three.

  • Consultation to Execution: A Full Event Design Class 2 of 3 (DH2)

    This event design class will bring students through the consultation, proposal and event storyboard, planning and finally the execution of a fully designed event with famed event designer David M. Handy. This series of three classes costs $1400.00 and includes high resolution images of your final installation for your portfolio.

    Day two of this series will start at NYC's famous 28th Street flower market, where students will purchase the flowers for their tables and conclude with a day of floral design back at 5 Tudor City Place.

  • Consultation to Execution: A Full Event Design Class 3 of 3 (D3)

    This event design class will bring students through the consultation, proposal and event storyboard, planning and finally the execution of a fully designed event with famed event designer David M. Handy. This series of three classes costs $1,400.00 and includes high resolution images of your final installation for your portfolio.

    The final class will take place on location, where students will have the opportunity to see the logistics enveloped with setting up their event. All tables will have to be set up, on time and on budget.

  • 2012 Holland & Belgium Study Abroad (HBSA)

    FlowerSchool New York is proud to announce our inaugural study abroad to Holland and Belgium. This eleven day, all inclusive, experience will provide hands-on workshops with Holland and Belgium's most sought after floral designers. This is an opportunity to breathe new life into your designs and be apart of a cultural experience that is European floral design.

  • Synthesis of Natural Art and Design with Rob Plattel (RPD)

    Synthesis of Natural Art and Design, Rob instructs that floristry starts from a vision in the eye of the maker and often references past art and design. It is the basis of most floral designs throughout history. In decorative design, the designer is in control. This class will explore this relationship.

  • FlowerSchool New York Master Class Gift Certificate (GC)

  • Floral Photography with Cal Crary (FPH)

    Photographs of floral designs are often the only record left behind by a designer. This workshop will give the students the opportunity to understand how cameras work and how to get professional results with their cameras using basic photography principals such as, depth of field, shutter speak, ISO and color balance to help record your designs.

    Students will go through a variety of common shooting scenarios that are unique to the flower industry and will process their images along side the instructor to completion.

    Students must bring their own SLR digital camera to use.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

Refunds are credited back to the card the same day they are charged.  However, students who cancel seven days prior to their scheduled class will receive a full credit toward another class at FlowerSchool New York.  Students who cancel anywhere between seven and two days before the class will receive 70% credit toward another class.  Students who cancel within 48 hours of their scheduled class will receive a 50% credit toward another class.
