In her position as Chief Florist, Laura planned and implemented decorations for major events at the White House, including the White House Christmas, state dinners, the presidential family quarters, the public tour route displays, and Camp David. In this class she will demonstrate how to conceptualize an entire event, including how to develop exciting color palettes, inspiration boards, and coordinating details, including linens, china, candles, chairs, lighting, etc. She will also offer specific tips on how to design a modern tablescape using layers of décor and specific elements to create a fresh and natural theme. Students will receive hands-on instruction for creating a lush and layered bouquet in the contemporary garden style as well as design a complementary organic container for the display. Throughout the day, Laura will offer unique insights and anecdotes from her White House years.
Lunch and refreshments will be served in this class which is from 10:30 in the morning until 4:00 in the afternoon.
