Setting the Table with Christian Tortu at The Townhouse on Oct 11th

Join Christian Tortu in this all-day workshop to learn the best methods and style for designing a table from top to bottom – including table linens, décor, tableware, and accessories, lighting and of course flowers. Starting with the design concept, together with Christian the class will vision three different table styles ideal for different types of events – corporate, wedding and party.

Once the overall concept is discussed, Christian will lead the class in designing the tables using the best flowers from the market and specialty highlights from our sponsor, Alexandra Farm. Christian will demonstrate how to best set a table adding distinctive details to each setting providing a custom and exciting feel for every guest. Sponsored by La Tavola Linens and Costa Nova stoneware, students will have the opportunity to work with some of the best vendors in the country in this exciting and informative class.

After a hard day’s working prepping, designing and setting the table, students will return to the venue in the evening for a full meal and merriment to celebrate their efforts and admire their beautiful designs. The dinner will be professionally photographed and provided to students.

Workshop: 11:00am – 4:00pm

Dinner at The Townhouse:  6:00pm – 9:00pm

This class will be hosted at the Little Owl’s Townhouse, a 1910 townhouse in the West Village renovated by famed architect and designer S.R. Gambrel. This is a special space to provide a “real-world” setting for the students to work in and explore event set up practices.
