Proposal Writing & Floral Photography with Calvert Crary

In this simulation class, Calvert Crary, will expertly demonstrate how to work through the budgeting aspect of the proposal teaching the class how to “back into” the overall budget and determine the cost of each item of the event using Excel and formalized recipes. Each student will learn the exact and best practice for creating an event budget including designing a healthy mark up for your business.
In the afternoon, Calvert will give a workshop in floral photography drawing upon his years of experience as a fashion photographer. This workshop will give the students the opportunity to understand how cameras work and how to get professional results with their cameras using basic photography principals such as depth of field, shutter speed, ISO and color balance. Calvert will show the class how to create their own in-home photo studio and how to take different styles of pictures using both a professional camera and IPhone.

Renowned for her stunning bridal bouquets, Ariella will teach each student the method and style that is her iconic look. Taking time and diving into the beautiful world of bouquets, Ariella will first begin with a lecture and slideshow of her past work detailing each selection and composition as she provides a vivid picture of her work. After a break and a lunch by Cipriani, Ariella will give a demonstration complete with a presentation of ribbon selection and application to the bouquet. Flower Chandeliers & Living Wall with Ingrid Carozzi of Tin Can Studios

Tin Can Studios has a renowned ability for large-scale installations from living walls, to hanging floral chandeliers. Their work is always impressive and inspiring. In this session, students will assist Ingrid in the development and installation of a floral chandelier and living wall within the FlowerSchool New York space. Here, students will learn the process and mechanics for conceptualizing and implementing these larger projects that Tin Can Studios is so recognized and celebrated for. Ingrid will begin the workshop with a slideshow and Q&A of her past work. Class is limited to 16 participants.
