In this simulated project management course, we will teach students how to design and produce events from start to finish. This program is great for students interested in hosting any type of event from corporate meetings to weddings to branded activations . This entire program will culminate in an actual event on Thursday, December 17th!
Program Details:
The 30-hour Certificate in Event Design Program is for florists, caterers, event planners or anyone designing entire events as a profession or party enthusiast. Students will spark their creativity, learn how to make their visions come to life by establishing workflows, project management fundamentals and industry tricks to bring a fully-planned event to fruition. In this simulated project management course, we will show you how to design, plan, produce and project manage events from start to finish. *Note: this course is 30% lecture and 70% hands-on active design and production

Canva, Be Merri and others
Bring home industry documents for professional/personal use, exclusive discounts on industry-leading software, build a design trunk with lifetime refresh of new collections, inspiring books written by leading industry professionals, and other takeaways!
Throughout the week, classes will include presentations by industry professionals giving advice and reflections from their years of experience in the business. At the end of this program, students will produce a real-life event! It is your job to create the best event possible as per the client’s interests while staying within budget.

About the Instructor: Calvert Crary, Executive Director of FlowerSchool NY & LA
An internationally recognized instructor and mentor, Calvert has taught programs across the United States, Holland, Mexico and Australia. He hasbeen invited to design tables at the prestigious Orchid Dinner at The Plaza Hotel, spoken to Garden Clubs across America, and served as a judge at the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show. Calvert has trained and coached thousands of students on how to work in the floral industry with top designers, start new businesses, or reorganize existing floral businesses into thriving careers.
In addition to his teaching and leadership roles, he is the author of influential books on floral design, including Flower School: A Practical Guide to the Art of Flower Arranging, and has co-authored The Encyclopedia of Cut Flowers. He was featured in The New York Times “Sunday Routine” section this past July 2025.
