Details

This Weekend Florist Program is our signature Introduction to Design Program offered over the weekend.  This certificate bearing program is perfect for those who would like to learn professional floristry skills if they have week day commitments and can't make our regularly scheduled program.

After learning the basic floristry techniques in the Introduction Series, the Intermediate Series will introduce the next level of floral design skills and techniques as well as introductions into purchasing flowers and building recipes. This course teaches students invaluable skills of sourcing and buying flowers, which sets up students to become higher quality florists. It will also prepare students to create more arrangement styles, including a bridal bouquet and large-scale branch arrangement. This class teaches the rest of the 6 Pillars of Floral Conditioning, commonly used by professional florists.

Over the course of two days, students in this program can expect to make four flower arrangements as well as take a guided tour of the famous NYC flower market on 28th Street. Lessons will cover {1} how to buy flowers like a pro at the wholesale market, {2} experimenting with color by designing a monochromatic design, {3} building a hand-tied wedding bouquet, and {4} venturing into large-scale designs with branch arrangements.

The prerequisite to this class is 101: Introduction to Design Series

Led by floral designer Jessi Owens, students will be guided through the essential mechanics and design principles behind creating boutonnieres, corsages, and a classic hand-tied bridal bouquet. Lessons will explore flower selection, bouquet construction, floral mechanics, and design composition, while introducing professional techniques for working cleanly, efficiently, and with intention.
