Our 30-hour Certificate in Event Design Program is for florists, event planners, caterers, or anyone planning sustainably minded an event. *Note:* this course is 30% lecture and 70% hands-on active doing.

About the event

GENERAL INFORMATION

In this simulated project management course, we will show students how to design events from start to finish. Designing for a number of clients, students will learn how to create layouts, timelines, and budgets, with an emphasis on high-end and luxury elements of design.  You will work with a wide variety of vendors, form relationships and work alongside real industry professionals.

*Note: this course is 30% lecture and 70% hands-on active design and production.  

*This entire program will culminate in an industry event on Thursday to present your work and make industry connections.

During the week-long course students will learn to execute several wedding design aesthetics from concept to completion including: Timeless Love, Playing House, and Surreal Romance. For the final project, students will get to build their own table here in our event space that will be the showpiece of their creativity and attention to detail.

Students will:

  • Meet your REAL LIFE client and learn how to ask the right questions.  

*This will be a fundraiser for the RAINFOREST Foundation*

  • Learn the entire event design and planning process including:   Client Run of Show, Internal Run of Show, Staffing Roll and Evaluations.                       
    • Selling your Services; Budgeting and expectations of your client. 
    • Building Vendor Relationships; How to find/spot/manage vendors
    • Budgets & Contracts
    • Event Timelines & Run of Show
    • Building A Coctail Menu
    • Designing Signage
    • Layouts using industry software: AllSeated & Details
    • Event & Tabletop Design
    • Floral Installation
    • Presentation Tools: Canva, BeMerri, and Others

      Design your client’s dream event here in our studio with inventory from Nuage Designs Linens, Costa Nova Tableware, and other high-end design elements

Bindi Dessert will be providing colorful assorted Italian desserts. ​

Costa Nova will be the company behind the stunning dinnerware on our designed tablescapes.

Nuage Designs is creator of the striking linens, tablecloths and napkins completing our table designs.

Drawing Booth will be offering custom-made portrait drawings on-the-spot!

GreenRose will be the master behind all of the beautiful blooms.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Day One – Monday:

  • Introduction to the event design process including : discussion of sales and services, practice client intake strategies, production timelines, vendor evaluations, and shot lists

Day Two – Tuesday:

  • Mood Boards, Learning about vendors, managing budgets, creating event timelines, and site plan.

Day Three – Wednesday:

  • Production Day including prepping: tables, linens, votives, table flowers, and floral installations

Day Four – Thursday:

  • Day of practice event, florals finished, photograph table-scapes, venue staffing and assignments

Day Five – Friday:

  • Final presentations, event breakdown, debrief process, sales and services, and graduation
