Details

In collaboration with Atelier Eva, join botanical artist and illustrator Daniel the Gardener for an intimate, hands-on exploration of plants, emotions, and creative expression, inspired by his book Beyond Botanical: A Guide to Drawing Plants in Nature.

This guided workshop invites you to slow down, observe the natural world, and explore the connections between plants and your inner life. Through drawing, journaling, and personal reflection, Daniel will encourage you to consider how an emotion can shape the way you see, interpret, and illustrate the botanical world around you.

Open to all experience levels, this is a space for curiosity and self-inquiry, with no pressure to get it right. Whether you’re an experienced artist or simply looking for a new way to connect with nature and your creativity, you’re welcome to follow your own process and see where it takes you.

Each participant will receive a copy of Beyond Botanical, drawing materials, and a small bud vase to inspire their illustrations. Light refreshments, including tea, will be served as you settle in for this relaxed, intimate creative experience. The workshop will conclude with a relaxed reception, offering time to connect, share your work, and enjoy light refreshments with fellow participants.

About Daniel the Gardener

Daniel the Gardener is an Argentine artist based in London, working across illustration, painting and tattooing. His practice centres on the relationships we establish with plants and the place they hold in our lives.

He collaborates with gardens, museums, galleries and cultural organizations on research-led projects, exhibitions, residencies and public programmes, and is part of Sarabande Foundation’s artist community following its 2023–24 artist-in-residence programme.

His workshops grew from exercises in his own practice and became the basis for his first book, Beyond Botanical: A Guide to Drawing Plants in Nature—an invitation to look beyond human-centred ways of seeing plants and reconsider our relationship with them through drawing and journaling.

About Beyond Botanical

Beyond Botanical: A Guide to Drawing Plants in Nature is Daniel’s first book, offering a fresh perspective on botanical drawing that goes beyond traditional technique. Combining drawing exercises with journaling prompts and opportunities for reflection, the book encourages readers to observe plants through their own experiences, memories, and imaginations. Designed for curious beginners and experienced artists alike, it offers an open-ended approach to creativity, where the process of looking, feeling, and exploring matters just as much as what ends up on the page.

About Atelier Eva

Atelier Eva is a Brooklyn-based tattoo studio, with two locations in Williamsburg, known for its thoughtful approach to tattooing as a personal and artistic experience. Home to a talented collective of artists specializing in fine line, micro realism, botanical, abstract, and fine art tattooing, the studios bring an artistic, thoughtful approach to personal expression.

Designed around a calm, elevated experience, Atelier Eva creates space for meaningful connections between art, individuality, and the people who wear it. This collaboration with FlowerSchool and Daniel the Gardener brings that creative spirit into a new setting, inviting participants to explore their relationship with plants through drawing, journaling, and self-expression.
